Matthijs Koster

Born and raised in Haarlem (NL) in 1992.

Studied Music & Technology at the University of Arts in Utrecht.

In 2013 I started a band together with Dimitri Opstal which we called BAPTIST. With a mixture of electronics, acoustic drums, guitars and vocals we filled up venues like Paradiso, Tivoli de Helling, Patronaat and Bevrijdingspop Haarlem, the largest free festival in the country. On all these stages Baptist hypnotised audiences with a warm, yet energetic experience accompanied by impressive live visuals making for a complete and immersive experience.

In 2016 I started working at LAB-3 in Amsterdam. Here I create music and sound for commissioned works, such as TV commercials, short movies, exhibitions and podcasts. I also like to explore new ways to use music and sound like 3D audio. And I believe there’s still much to discover.

Besides making music I also like to DJ. Twice a month I work as a concert DJ at Patronaat Haarlem. This is also the place where DJ Team Natte Sokken was born. We play the worst (dance) music we can find as long as it feeds the party-mood and makes us happy.
